Al-Zahrawi University Hosts First Aid Workshop to Enhance Medical Readiness in Karbala
hosted a specialized “First Aid Workshop” on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 12:30 PM, sponsored by the Ruh Al-Hayat Volunteer Medical Team, with the participation of students and staff interested in clinical and emergency response skills.
The theoretical session covered evidence-based approaches to burn management according to burn degree classification, emphasizing immediate cooling and avoidance of improper interventions. It also addressed fracture stabilization techniques to prevent vascular and neurological complications, as well as rapid response procedures for airway obstruction and choking cases. In addition, certified cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) protocols were reviewed, highlighting the importance of early intervention to maintain cerebral perfusion and improve survival rates in sudden cardiac arrest cases.
The practical component included hands-on training in measuring blood pressure and blood glucose levels using standardized medical devices, alongside supervised practice in intravenous cannula insertion in accordance with infection control guidelines, within a simulated clinical training environment.
Organizers emphasized that strengthening first aid competencies represents a strategic investment in human health capacity and contributes to building a proactive and well-prepared medical community.
